Description

We are looking for a creative, innovative, tech savvy individual to help us build community amongst students, graduates and those in Kingston. You will support us sourcing talent for our Creative Meanwhile Space, growing your customer service, networking and communication skills to source and liaise with students and graduate artists and creators selling work or products, or hosting events in the space.

When working in the Creative Meanwhile, you’ll assist the Store Coordinator with sales and enquiries from customers. You’ll work closely with students, graduates, the Students’ Union staff team and the University team to find students who create and want to use the space, and help them once they arrive.

You’ll be using the Creative Meanwhile and UKS channels such as facebook groups and instagram to engage in conversations, promoting the students’ union and Creative Meanwhile. This role would be suitable for people with an interest in creativity, communication and engagement. This is an opportunity to work in the community and make a real difference to students and graduates’ experience.

You should be organised, able to plan and meet deadlines. You’ll be good at communicating verbally and in writing and using social media.

This role is being created through the Government Kickstart scheme. To qualify, you must be aged between 16-24 years old and currently unemployed and on Universal credit.

Main Duties and Key Responsibilities
-Assist the Creative Meanwhile team on finding talent and work to sell such as art, ceramics, music, fashion, etc.
-Help promote the Students’ Union and our activities using a variety of channels including social media and email
-Assist with stakeholders during events, exhibitions and workshops
-Liaise with external commercial and charitable organisations as well as Union and University departments who may provide connections for work to go in the space
-Respond to questions from customers both in person and online
-Assist customers where necessary in a timely and professional manner
-To undertake any other reasonable additional duties as required such as keeping the shop floor clean and tidy
